War of the ads: Missguided Vs Pretty Little Things

Yesterday whilst I was happily drinking my mug of tea and watching yet another cringe but soooo addictive episode of Made In Chelsea, an ad for on an online clothing boutique came on. For a second I had a major case of Deja Vu – I’ve definitely seen this before, but i’m sure it was months ago?! The ad I was watching was the new Pretty Little Things ad, and the ad I was Deja Vu-ing about was Missguided’s spring summer ad from last season! Now it can be just me that sees the similarities/absolute identicalness of these two ads?? Watch them both below:

See what I mean? I love both of these websites (i really do!) but come on… some originality please?! If your running out of ideas, I’m more than happy to get my creative juices flowing for you!

What do you think of the ads? Let me know your thoughts lovelies! x

What’s in my bag?

This is a popular feature that i’ve seen some of my fave bloggers do time and time again. The contents of my handbag have never seemed interesting but an article on the Daily Mail today has inspired me. According to John Lewis, a women’s handbag and essentials totals up to £1,209.99 on average. This seems ridiculous to me so I had to do my own and see how much it came up to. Eeeek here goes…

Bela bag

DKNY bag – £249

The perfect everyday bag with a cross body strap for those days when you’re running around the capital.

Marie Claire – £3.99

I always carry a magazine with me when I’m travelling (I picked Marie Claire for the free gift – obvs!)

Victoria’s Secret Mist in Love Spell – £8

This has been my favourite smell for about 10 years. Its girly, sweet and refreshing – just like me!

MAC mineralize concealer in NC42 – £16.50

A perfect light-weight concealer for everyday use.

Bare Minerals Ready SPF20 Foundation in R330 and Bare Minerals precision foundation brush – £25 & £24

This foundation powder is perfect for my spot prone skin. Its not too heavy but can be layered on when I’m having one of those bad skin days (pretty much everyday at the moment!)

Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in Kiss of Life – £5.49

I love this creamy matte red,it applies like a dream and last for ages!

MAC Surf Baby! Bronzer – £20

This is a limited edition MAC bronzer which has lasted me forever! Its probably time to swap my bronzer for a blusher but this just gives me a subtle glow – I love it!

Boots nail varnish remover pads – £1.50

I have this OCD thing about chipped nail varnish so these are perfect for on the go!

Maybelline gel liner – £7.99

I don’t wear liner during the day (mainly cos i’m too lazy) but this gel is so easy to apply when i’m going out straight after work.

L’occitane dry skin handcream – FOC with my Marie Claire Nov

The perfect gift as my handcream had just run out. This one smells fresh and actually works!

Ipad Mini 16GB – £239.99

No comment needed.

Sunbites Sour Cream and Chive – £1 for a pack of 6

Addicted to these at the moment.

Total = £602.49 Thats less than half the price of the ‘John Lewis’ woman!

Let me know what are your handbag must have’s ladies (and gents!) and do they equate to over £1,000?!?!

Inside Chanel

Chanel. Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel to be precise. The woman single handedly responsible for the Little Black Dress, the perfect red lipstick and of course the most famous number number in the world; No. 5.

I just came across these beautiful films created by the ionic brand to tell the story of a true fashion legend. Just had to share, Enjoy!

The Muse TV – 5 Stars

Some of may you know I work for an amaaazzing online fashion platform called The Muse TV. If you love fashion and video then you should DEFS check it out!

We’ve started this new feature called ‘5 Stars’ where we discuss what 5 celebs (stars – get it?) and what they’ve been wearing this week!

LFW: The novice round up

images

This post is a actually a follow on from yesterdays ‘It’s London Fashion Week, did you know?’ which you can read here. For those of you who haven’t spent the last 5 days camped at Somerset House, I thought i’d give you a quick snapshot to blag your way through spring/summer 2014.

1- Cara Delevigne is still Top Model – She walked for everyone who is anyone, from Topshop Unique to Burberry and Mulberry

2 – Top fashion trends for next spring/summer include sheer fabrics, sports luxe and lots of volume… think oversized; bigger is better! (so not much has changed then?!)

3 – Top beauty trends for s/s14 are bronzed goddess, sculpted cheeks and crazy nail art!

4 – Harry Styles loves LFW (or Cara?) he was FROW at nearly all of her shows

5 – 3 designers you might want to watch (and pretend you’v heard of): Eudon Choi, Holly Fulton and Meadham Kirchhoff

The title of this post sounds a bit harsh, obvs you know that its LFW, but do you caaaaarrrreeeeeee, like actually care? How many of you non fashion industry, but fashion loving young women know the difference between Christopher Bailey and Christopher Kane? Is the only Choi you care about the Pak Choi in your stir fry? And how does anyone actually pronounce Katrantzou?

If you answered yes to any of those then do not fear, you are in fact part of the majority! And that includes me and I actually work in fashion! Now sure I know my Peter Pilotto from my PPQ but most LFW conversations still go straight over my head. Does that make me any less of a fashionista? I think not… I talk about clothes for at least 2 hours a day, every meet up with my girls starts with ‘I love your shoes/bag/top/necklace’, and I shop. A lot. Does it matter that everything I own is high street and designer gear only appears in my dreams? Hell no. I’m a high street fashionista and I’m not afraid to shout it from the rooftops (or from my bedroom window). I think LFW is a great celebration of fashion and I love being surrounded by all the buzz, but lets be honest, i’m never going to be front row at Chanel! I’ve accepted this and celebrate LFW in my own way… (see how I celebrated this year at New Looks LFW Refuel Room here) and I think you all should too!

Anyway my point is, yes I do have one, that you don’t have to be a designer dork to enjoy fashion… high street hotties all the way!

New Look’s Fashion Week Refuel Room

For the second season in a row, New Look teamed up with The Muse TV to host their blogger Refuel Room. A great way for bloggers, old and new, to meet up, catch up and most importantly REFUEL. The Waldorf Hilton was decked out like a fashion Aladdin’s cave, filled with yummy Crussh smoothies, divine hand massages by Elemis and amazing manicures by Miss Merx Mani’s. And of course fabulous pieces from New Look’s A/W 13 collections.

Loved meeting sooo many other bloggers at the event, it’s great to be able to put a voice to a blog and everyone was super friendly! Cannot wait for next season…

What’s On: Oxford Street Fashion Showcase

campaign-homepage1-715x358

For someone who lives in the capital and walks down Oxford Street on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis, you’d think I would’ve known about the Oxford Street Fashion Showcase… Well I didn’t. But I do now, so I’m sharing with you lovely readers. This month, until the 17th, some of the High Streets hottest flagship stores are giving us the chance to experience some of the LFW madness. Stores are hosting one off events with everything from exclusive in-house talks and blogger style sessions to discounts and DJ’s! Sound good? The best part? No tickets and no begging PR’s for guest list!

Highlights for me would be River Island on the 12th for the launch of Rihanna’s new collection and Forever 21 on the 13th when they launch their new personal shopper program. Check out www.oxfordstreet.co.uk for more!

WWW: Miami 2013

Meeeeeehhhhh!

That’s the noise I make every time i think about Miami. I’ve been back 10 days and only just been able to write this post without crying about how much I miss the holiday. For those of you who have been to MIA you will know how I feel – i’m yet to meet someone who has been and does not want to go back! If you haven’t been yet – WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?! Miami for me is the perfect vacation location, its the ideal mix of beach, pool party, nightclub with shopping, sight seeing and a little bit of culture… did I mention the beautiful people??! What more could you want from a holiday destination/somewhere I’m going to move to.

Anyway back to this post. Instead of just showing you some of my fave outfits from the trip, I thought I’d also include a brief description about where I am/what I was doing for anyone who is planning to go to Miami (I’m like so helpful). If you’ve already been, i’d love to hear your thoughts too so don’t forget to comment.

Signature airport photo – Wearing a neon green Ragged Priest jumper to keep me warm on the plane!
Pose outside The Loews – Wearing Rihanna for River Island shorts,  an ASOS polo crop and Primark Heels. I definitely recommend The Loews Hotel for anybody visiting Miami, especially for the first time. Its in the perfect location; close to South Beach, Lincoln Road and Washnington Avenue. The 24 hour hotel pool is lovely and always buzzing and the staff are all actually AMAZING!!

Couldn’t go to Miami and not see Versace House. Wearing a River Island cut out maxi dress and standing right outside where the legend himself was assassinated.

Getting ready to go to the SLS pool party. If you’re looking to go to a pool party with a bit of class and lots of hotties, the SLS on a Saturday is a must! The first time i’ve worn a swimsuit in years! Cut out swimsuit from ASOS,  denim hot pants for Miss Selfridge, tasselled waistcoat from HnM and Primark sandals.

Posing before going for dinner at Mr Chows (not sure what made me wear a crop top to a chinese?!?!)  followed by a night at The Wall (the club at the W hotel – definitely worth checking out on a Thursday!) Wearing a Forever 21 crop top and HnM skirt.

Even the toilets at LIV are fabulous! LIV is one of the most popular clubs in Miami and it LIVes up to its name! I saved this backless ASOS dress for when I was most tanned! Finished the outfit with my Bershka barely there tan heels (they matched my feet by this point!)

Standard room shot. Love my tribal print Topshop Skirt.

I heart: boyfriend jeans

For the last 10 years (give or take a few), like most young, slightly style conscious, women, I have been a skinny jeans girl. Whether it was my Indigo super skinnies from GAP, Faded LEVI’s Low risers or the Topshop acid wash Leigh Jeans, all my denim was skinny (or super skinny!)

Alas, a new jean has caught my eye and has won a place in my heart (my wardrobe)… the BOYFRIEND, dum dum duuuuuum!

Inspired by the likes of Rihanna, Rosie HW, Elle Macpherson (I wish) and Gwen Stefani, I went out a got myself a pair of this seasons must have jean – the Boyfriend.

Now although my jeans haven’t turned me into a supermodel (darn it!), they have been pretty well received! I love the fact you can wear them with heels, flats, boots and trainer wedges – the ultimate in versatility. I chose a pair in faded denim from New Look with rips for a little extra oomph…

I love wearing my BF jeans rolled up with my patent Aldo pointy heels for a night time look thats sexy and subtle!

For a day to night look I paired my jeans with peep top ankle boots from River Island and a River Island white crop tee!
If you’re thinking of purchasing your own pair of Boyfriend jeans, my faves out right now are…

 River Island
Topshop
What do you think of Boyfriend jeans? If you have a pair, how do you wear yours?
